How to Prepare Your Hair for a Braiding Appointment

Preparation changes how long your appointment takes and how the finished style sits.

Wash and condition

Shampoo and deep condition one to two days before. Avoid heavy butters and gels on the day itself.

Detangle fully

Work through in sections with a detangling brush. Knots left in place slow the braider down significantly.

Stretch the hair

Blow-dry on low or band the hair overnight. Stretched hair grips more evenly and the parting comes out cleaner.
